Our goal is to meet to discuss papers at the interaction between biology and engineering in aerodynamics and aircraft design. Topics range from flight dynamics and aerodynamics to animal behavior and biomechanics. Most importantly, journal club is an avenue to comfortably and regularly discuss science.
This is a space to make mistakes and learn from each other. Please read and follow our discussion guidelines.
Format
- Meetings occur every two weeks with different rhythms between the summer and academic year.
- We take turns explaining the key takeaways of each figure, followed by general discussion (the Figures principles are a good lens).
- Come prepared to share your thoughts, questions, and ideas after reading the selected paper. If you are new to reading the literature, please refer to the guide on how to review the literature.
- We alternate who suggests the article and leads the discussion. The leader suggests their article at least one week in advance and keeps the discussion flowing and on track.
Itβs easy to criticize. For every negative comment, try to offer a positive one as well; see giving and receiving feedback.
